Hello everybody, it is Louise, welcome to our recipe page. Today, I'm gonna show you how to prepare a special dish, Crockpot Greek Yogurt. One of my favorites. For mine, I will make it a bit unique. This will be really delicious.

Crockpot Greek Yogurt is one of the most well liked of current trending meals in the world. It is easy, it is quick, it tastes yummy. It's appreciated by millions daily. Crockpot Greek Yogurt is something which I have loved my entire life. They are nice and they look fantastic.

Two recipes in one. To make yogurt just drain it for an hrs after it’s done. For Greek yogurt, drain it in the refrigerator overnight. There is no sugar or fruits added, can add all that stuff later as needed, I didn’t want my big batch to be just one flavor, I wanted to use it For different things, like (To make a flavor batch just get the flavor yogurt with live culture, like vanilla for example )for cooking, so it’s all plain . I made yogurt and I took the other half and made Greek yogurt. If you don’t want a big batch I put that in here too. When making this , do not peek at it, or remove lid at anytime. The only time this lid comes off is the step where you add the starter yogurt and that’s it, I can’t stress this enough as it will not work if that lid comes off , even for a sneak peek and you wasted all that time. There is nothing to making just time. If you have other people in the house when this is being made, make sure everyone knows not to touch it , or remove that lid, or the towel in that last step, if you have to put a do not touch note on it. I watched 3 videos on how to do this before i attempted this , I will put them in the notes below for anyone who wants a better understanding before trying this. I highly recommend watching them , the first one is about 8 mins the other one is 19 mins long.

Ingredients and spices that need to be Prepare to make Crockpot Greek Yogurt:

  1. 1 gallon milk
  2. 1 Single-serving 6 oz Yogurt cup (with live yogurt cultures)
  3. Cooking tools
  4. Big crockpot
  5. Whisk
  6. cup Measuring
  7. Paper towels or cheese cloth, or coffee filters
  8. Ladle
  9. Containers to put yogurt in
  10. Thick bath towel
  11. Timer
  12. whole, 1%, 2% or skim Pasteurized Milk, but do NOT use ultra-pasteurized because it won’t work.)
  13. Make less- just use a half gallon of milk and 1/2 cup yogurt with live culture
  14. When buying yogurt, make sure it has active live culture or this will not work. You can get plain or flavored. Keep in mind if you use flavored your whole batch will be that flavor!
  15. So the yellowish liquid that dripped out of the yoghurt was whey it’s proteine. (can be saved and used for making homemade bread)

Instructions to make to make Crockpot Greek Yogurt

  1. Make your yogurt on a weekend day when you are home to monitor. (After the 3 hour mark, you can go to bed.) I like to start mine around 2 pm or 3pm
  2. Plug in your crock pot and turn to low. Add the gallon of milk. Cover and cook on low for 2 1/2 hours.(don’t remove lid) SET TIMER
  3. Unplug your crock pot. Leave the cover on, and let it sit for 3 hours.(don’t remove lid) SET TIMER
  4. When 3 hours have passed, scoop out 2 cups of the warmish milk and put it in a bowl. Whisk in 6oz yogurt cup of store-bought live/active culture,Then dump the bowl contents back into the crock pot. Whisk to combine.
  5. Put the lid back on your crock pot. Keep it unplugged, and wrap a heavy bath towel all the way around the crockpot for insulation.(Don’t remove towel or lid.)
  6. Go to bed or let it sit for 8 hours.- 12hrs (don’t remove lid or towel)
  7. In the morning, the yogurt will have thickened to the consistency of low-fat plain yogurt.
  8. Place Cheese cloth or paper towels, or coffee filters into a colander and ladle the yogurt into it, place the colander into a big bowl or in the sink.(I have pets and children, so I put a plate over top and a paper towels over the other smaller colander, I used 2 colanders and found that coffee filters was the best way.)
  9. Let it sit for 1 hr until thick and creamy. (the longer you let it set the better.) you have to check on it, because if the colander is setting in liquid it won’t drain, just dump it out.
  10. How to make it Greek yogurt- I put mine in the refrigerator and checking it every 2 hrs, on it making sure the liquid wasn’t touching the colander, if so just dump it out, can leave sit overnight for a thick Greek yogurt, that’s what I did.) keep in mind you want to use a lot of yogurt.
  11. Chill in a plastic container(s) in the refrigerator. Your fresh yogurt will last 7-10 days (this was the messy part, getting it all off the coffee filters)
  12. Flavor to fit your taste, you can also use this in place of sour cream.

  15. Iam not sure if I can put this on here. If you plan on making this on a regular basis to replace store yogurt, I recommend something like this, I seen this on YouTube.This would be so much easier and not going through so many coffee filters or cheese cloth. I think iam going to be getting one... mainly so it’s not so messy and I don’t lose that much yogurt. It’s not a maker it just drains the liquid off!
